Determined

Yes I am, I’m gonna do it!
Stepping up, now let’s get to it!

Bring it on! I’ve got this fight!
Little strain with a little might.

Pressing hard my shoulder to it,
Looky there, it moved! I knew it!

“Get ‘er done!” That’s my approach.
Trust in God, the Lord, my Coach.

Overcome? Oh yes, you’ll see!
No task will get the best of me!

Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV)

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Focused determination is without doubt one of the greatest trademarks of great leadership. Consider the qualities of determination that are mentioned in this passage.

1. A realistic view of the struggle – “I do not count myself to have apprehended.”

2. A release of the past – “forgetting those things which are behind.”

3. A forward vision – “reaching forward to those things which are ahead.”

4. A worthy effort – “I press.”

5. A celebrated incentive – “toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
